Maintaining the legacy of the Association is paramount to ensuring that the achievements of the RAFBEA are not consigned merely to the pages of history but remain as a tangible reminder of the contribution that Boy Entrants made to the Royal Air Force. It is therefore fundamental that the Association is wound up in a structured and methodical manner and the Committee continues to strive to achieve this.
To ensure that the Members were kept up to date with events, in January 2019 the Committee took the decision to publish and update an Action Plan for Closure on a regular basis.
RAFBEA Memorial Maintenance
The Committee takes pleasure in confirming that the Maintenance Agreement for the RAFBEA Memorial is now in place, the Association having been able to negotiate a reduced sum of £10,000 rather than the original estimated £14,000. Due to space restriction the full details have been published in a separate post entitled "The RAFBEA Memorial". Finally, an Association Trustee will be appointed to look after the Association's interests after closure. Further details in due course.
Following a discussion the Committee decided that it would be unprofessional to continue to accept new Members, albeit the number is negligible, after 30th June 2019. The information on "Membership" contained on the "Noticeboard Page" of the Website will be amended to reflect this and the link to the Application Form will be removed.
The Committee also took the decision to confirm that Members will no longer be required to pay the Annual Subscription of £10.00 with effect from 31st December 2019. It is therefore extremely important that Members cancel their Standing Orders as soon as possible to prevent any further payments. Anyone who has paid beyond 2019 can request a refund from the Treasurer. The information about the "Annual Subscriptions and Payment Methods" contained on the "Noticeboard Page" of the Website will be amended to reflect this change.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT ONLY YOU CAN CANCEL A STANDING ORDER, THE ASSOCIATION CANNOT DO THIS FOR YOU.
Discussions continue regarding an appropriate way to mark the dissolution of the RAFBEA and also on how to deal with other important administrative matters associated with its closure. Further details will be published both on the Website and in the Newsletter as and when they become available.
