Dear Friends. A Very Happy Christmas 2018 and a Healthy 2019 to you and yours! As the year comes to its close, once again Christmas celebrations are imminent. As I reflect on all the ups and downs, the smiles and the tears of 2018, I can see how many people need to party- time as the year comes to its end!
Nevertheless, I cannot help but feel how sad it is that this wonderful festival has been nullified by a state of clamour and feverish rushing that has drowned out the real Christmas joy and hope for mankind.
Christmas celebrates the birth of a very special baby. But we seem to have, as they say, - thrown out the baby with the bath water in our mad rush for the hustle and bustle of ‘retail therapy’.
The first Christmas, when Jesus was born in that lowly stable, God was breaking through into our world. When that child became a man, he taught nothing but the reconciling love of God. His life was as special as his birth; bringing love and forgiveness to lighten our darkness.
Forget Christmas clamour then. I hope you will take time out and pause. Time to be still and seek Christ’s personal peace and joy. Let it permeate your life with the therapy of his love. Isn’t that the greatest cause for party time?
With the blessing of God our Father, may his grace and truth find its way into our lives and homes this Christmas and throughout the brand-new year of 2019.
